Elvis Zhang
Elvis is building a disputes practice which ranges from the pursuit of aggressive injunctive relief at all stages of fraud litigation, to international arbitrations involving financial institutions, commodities and infrastructure. Across this breadth of matters, Elvis’s key focus is to deliver bespoke advice and top-notch written and oral advocacy.
At Setia, Elvis has acted as lead counsel on various interlocutory applications before the Singapore High Court, including successful applications for an interim proprietary injunction, production of documents, and an ‘unless’ order.
Prior to joining Setia, Elvis was an associate in the international commercial arbitration team in a top-tier global firm in London, where he worked on high-stakes commercial disputes that involved coordinating court proceedings across multiple jurisdictions, and advising on intersecting areas of legal practice such as fraud and insolvency.
Notable experience:
- Acted for Novo Nordisk A/S in obtaining and defending a worldwide freezing injunction in the SICC (including in the Court of Appeal) in support of arbitration proceedings seated in New York
- Acted for a global cryptocurrency foundation in obtaining an ex parte proprietary injunction in respect of cryptocurrency tokens
- Acted for a payment processing firm in successfully obtaining document production orders against a defendant in Singapore High Court proceedings, culminating in obtaining a further ‘unless’ order for the enforcement of the document production orders
- Acted for lenders and security trustee in a debt enforcement claim brought in arbitration, supported by a worldwide freezing order granted by the English High Court
